Safe in Sound, Southampton Voluntary Services, raising awareness of substance abuse and sexual health.

HSCVF’s Safe in Sound project (Local 2010) has worked closely with the local university and offered a fantastic opportunity for six students to become marketing volunteers for two months.

The volunteers organised awareness raising activities to promote health messages. They designed and produced posters to promote the project and its safety messages around alcohol and other substances, sexual health, and personal safety.  The volunteers also organised two awareness raising events which gained local media coverage.

Due to a surge in interest in the National Grant Scheme 2012 over the last week we have decided to extend the application period for stage 1. The application portal will now close on noon on 26th January 2012.

Tune into BBC Somerset Breakfast Radio show tomorrow morning or BBC iPlayer to hear a news article about South Somerset Mind, a funded local grant scheme 2011 project.

South Somerset Mind is one of 51 organisations to receive funding from the HSCVF Local Grant Scheme 2011. This vital funding will help South Somerset Mind to enhance their work in their local community through the use of volunteers.

Local Grant Scheme 2011 Start up event videos

On the 17th October the HSCVF team were joined by the Minister of Care Services, Paul Burstow, and Olivia Butterworth, from the Department of Health, for the HSCVF Local Grant Scheme 2011 start up event.
